  • Encounters with Elephants – Wildlife Wednesday

At dinner the other night with friends, we were showing off some photos from our Kruger trip when we came across some photos of a baby and momma elephant. Our friend squealed in delight, and I smiled, remembering just how amazing it was to watch that little baby running in between its mom’s massive legs.

For this week’s Wildlife Wednesday, I wanted to show off a few of my favorite elephant moments from our Kruger trips.

Each time I saw an elephant in Kruger my reaction was always the same – stare in complete amazement then break into a huge smile.  I love watching the little babies. They are too cute with their little tails and already wrinkled skin.

Here is the video of our little friend crossing the road:

Do you hear my friends and I? We are completely captivated and amazed by these creatures!

The adults are just as cool. Their amazing trunks move around as if they have a mind of their own.

As sweet as they look, with their flappy ears and wrinkles, I never forget the sheer power they possess. They can trample your car if agitated, especially if they feel their baby is at risk. They are wild animals after all!elephant2

I’ll never forget (hehe, see what I did there?) my close encounters with these lovely creatures in Kruger!

That would be so amazing to elephants out walking around, and that baby elephant, too adorable!

Elephants are also my favorite animals, I could watch them all day long. Perhaps it’s because you can just tell that they are very smart.
